About
Charles Booth's late-Victorian poverty maps, which coloured London's streets by wealth and want, are the starting point for a 200-year history of housing and community life in the capital. Drawing on archives, photographs, literature and personal testimony, the exhibition traces workhouses and street life, wartime and postwar redevelopment, the building of the estates, eviction, squatting and shifting housing policy. It is a joint project between the University of London and the London School of Economics.
