Burmese Days

The librettist Sarah Howe and the composer Prach Boondiskulchok reimagine George Orwell's debut novel from a Southeast Asian perspective. Set in a Europeans-only clubhouse in Upper Burma during the last years of the British Empire, the chamber opera explores prejudice, political ambition and concealed relationships. Benjamin Wenzelberg conducts Het Muziek ensemble.
