Council: Pekka Kuusisto & Gabriel Kahane

The violinist Pekka Kuusisto and the songwriter Gabriel Kahane, friends for nearly a decade, perform together as Council. Their songs and chamber music, written on retreats in Northern Karelia and Portland, Oregon, sit alongside traditional Scandinavian folk tunes, played on violins, piano, guitar and harmonium. The new work reflects on grief, memory, fatherhood and life amid global instability.
